Cherry Cobbler

1 stick butter
1/8 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup milk
1 1/4 cups white sugar
1 can pie cherries or fresh cherries
2 teaspoons baking powder


Melt butter in 9x9x2 inch baking dish. Sift 1 cup white sugar with dry ingredients. Add milk and beat well. Pour into melted butter. Top with cherries and sprinkle with remaining sugar. Bake at 350F for 45 minutes.
