Maple Caramel Bananas
2 Ripe but firm bananas, peeled
1/4 c (60ml) pure maple syrup
1/4 ts (1 ml) ground cardamom
Ground cardamom for sprinkling
Cut the bananas crosswise into pieced 3 inches (7.5 cm) long.
Halve each piece lengthwise.
Place maple syrup and cardamom in a medium skillet over moderate
heat. When the mixture starts to bubble, lower the heat slightly.
Cook until the mixture thickens, a few minutes. Place the bananas in
this syrup and cook for a minute or so, turning gently once to coat
both sides with the syrup. Remove from heat. Place on individual
serving plates. Squeeze lime juice over the top and sprinkle with
cardamom. Serve immediately.
