Baby Garbanzo Dip

1 1/2 c Chana dal
1/2 Onion; chopped
2 Cloves garlic
2 Plum tomatoes; (fresh or whole canned)
3 tb Lemon juice
2 ts Ground cumin
1/2 ts Paprika
1/4 ts Cayenne; (or to taste)


Soak chana dal in water overnight. Drain dal and boil in new water for about an hour till soft. Strain the dal. Puree all ingredients in a blender. Serve with pita bread or chopped veggies.
