Flower Preservative

1 Part powdered borax
2 Parts cornmeal

In a bowl, thoroughly mix enough borax and cornmeal to cover the bottom of a shoe box (or any other covered box) to a depth of 3/4".

Cut flower stems so that they are about 1" in length, and place into the shoe box. Make sure that the petals and leaves are as flat as possible. If you are preserving more than one flower, do not put too many together.

Cover the flowers with an additional 3/4" of the borax and cornmeal mixture. Place the cover on the box and store in a warm, dry place for three to four weeks.
