Easy Batter Buns

3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
2 pkgs. dry yeast
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. warm water
3 1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar

Scald milk, add sugar, salt and butter. Cool to lukewarm. In large bowl, place water and add yeast. Stir until yeast is dissolved. Add milk mixture, egg and 2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Add the rest of the flour to make a soft dough. Cover and let rise until double, about 30 to 45 minutes. Punch dough down. Put out on lightly floured surface. Knead 8 to 10 times. Shape into 18 rolls and put into greased pan or regular muffin cups. Let rise until double. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or lightly browned.
